"When I'd get tired
and want to stop,
I'd wonder what my
next opponent was
doing. I'd wonder
if he was still
working out.

I'd try to visualize
him. When I could
see him still
working, I'd start
pushing myself.

When I could see
him in the shower,
I'd push myself
harder."

Seneca Wrestling Club Hosts D-1 Champ Brett Matter, Sat, 12/06/2003

On Saturday, December 6, 2003, the Seneca Wrestling Club (a USAW chartered club) will be hosting a wrestling clinic featuring former University of Pennsylvania and Delran (NJ) High School wrestler, Brett Matter. Brett is a graduate of Penn's Wharton School of Business, brother of former U Penn stalwart, Clint Matter, and son of Penn State's national champion, Andy Matter. Brett won his D-I Nationals title in 2000. Wow!

Seneca High School is the last of 4 Lenape HS District High Schools located in Medford (Shawnee and Lenape), Evesham (Cherokee). Seneca is located off of Carranzza Road in Tabernacle, and just opened brand new in September, 2003. The wrestling facilities are beautiful. There will also be a weigh in for the SJWA Virginia Challenge Middle School Holiday Nationals Duals Tournament that same evening. Join the clinic while you're there!  Details...

Howell Wrestling Club Hosts "Legends" Clinic

On Tuesday, September 9, 2003, the Howell Wrestling Club was proud to host a “Legends of Wrestling” clinic,  featuring Olympic gold medalists Jeff Blatnick (1984) and Kendall Cross (1996). These two great athletes inspired and motivated the wrestlers with their presentations.   The instruction they provided was excellent. Kendall Cross demonstrated his version of an inside trip takedown, and then provided some pointers on upper body throws.  Jeff Blatnick demonstrated proper throw technique, and showed some drills the wrestlers could work to help improve their throws.  Both Olympians were great instructors. Blatnick and Cross stayed around at the end of the clinic signing autographs and talking to the wrestlers and coaches.  Admission to the event was free, and the kids and coaches really got a lot out of it.

Jeff Blatnick is a 2x Div. II NCAA Champion and a 1984 Olympic Champion.  Kendall Cross is an NCAA Champion, a 3X US National Champion, and 1996 Olympic Champion.
