USA Wrestling - New Jersey holds and participates in Olympic-style events (Freestyle and Greco-Roman) within New Jersey and in various regional and national events in various locations around the United States.
Men's and Women's Junior & Cadet Freestyle and Greco-Roman opportunities abound in the Mid-Atlantic region and the nation in general. Developmental and Ranking tournaments are held in-state in order to develop potential members of Olympic-style Team New Jerseys.
Regional Championships (National qualifiers) begin in the Mid-Atlantic region as well as the rest of the country in the Spring, culminating in a National Championship tournament which is held annually (late July, early August) at the Fargo Dome on the campus of the North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Every year New Jersey sends teams of Males and Females in various age groups to compete for national titles in Freestyle (Males / Females) and Greco-Roman (Males).
The wrestling season does not end with the Kids Scholastic State Championships in March. The Olympic styles of Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling come alive. The opportunities begin for learning and refining those styles, applying them in various situations: clinics; developmental and in-state tournaments; traveling on NJ teams; or competing at national competitions.
A flyer will be available in early spring for the 2019 season of scheduled USAW-NJ Freestyle and Greco-Roman clinics and competitions. Local, regional and national tournament dates and sites are listed. This schedule has been designed to facilitate introduction and training of wrestlers to Freestyle and Greco-Roman. All events should be checked on the NJ Wrestling website: www.usawnj.org or the USA Wrestling national website: www.themat.com|

"When I'd get tired and want to stop, I'd wonder what my next opponent was doing. I'd wonder if he was still working out. I'd try to visualize him. When I could see him still working, I'd start pushing myself. When I could see him in the shower, I'd push myself harder."
